BenQ W2720i 4K UHD 4LED Home Cinema Projector – 2500 ANSI Lumens with AI Cinema, HDR-PRO & Android TV

The BenQ W2720i is a premium 4K UHD smart home cinema projector engineered for dedicated movie rooms and high-performance home theatre installations. Combining a 2500 ANSI-lumen 4LED light source, 4K UHD resolution, 90% DCI-P3 and 98% Rec.709 colour coverage, HDR-PRO processing and intelligent AI Cinema technology, it is designed to reproduce films with accurate colour, strong dynamic range and detailed cinematic images.

The DLP projection system produces a 3840 × 2160 4K UHD image with approximately 8.3 million displayed pixels. Its long-life 4LED illumination system generates 2500 ANSI lumens and works with light-source dimming to deliver a specified dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.

BenQ CinematicColor technology provides 90% coverage of the wide DCI-P3 cinema colour gamut together with 98% Rec.709 coverage. Each projector is individually factory calibrated and supplied with a calibration report, helping provide accurate colour reproduction directly out of the box.

AI Cinema Mode intelligently optimises the projected picture according to both scene content and ambient lighting conditions. For HDR content, HDR AI Cinema combines automatic picture adaptation with BenQ HDR-PRO processing to improve contrast, colour and detail across challenging bright and dark scenes.

The W2720i supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG high-dynamic-range formats. Filmmaker Mode is also available for viewers who prefer presentation that preserves the original motion cadence, colour and creative characteristics of compatible film content.

Advanced CinemaMaster processing provides additional picture optimisation. Pixel Enhancer 4K enhances fine textures and image detail, Motion Enhancer 4K uses motion estimation and compensation to improve motion smoothness, while Global Contrast Enhancer and Local Contrast Enhancer provide additional control over image depth and shadow/highlight reproduction.

Installation flexibility is provided by a 1.0–1.3 throw ratio, 1.3x optical zoom and vertical lens shift of ±5%. BenQ states that the W2720i can produce an approximately 120-inch image from around 2.7 metres, helping it accommodate dedicated cinema rooms where projection distance may be limited.

Automatic vertical and horizontal 2D keystone correction of up to ±30 degrees provides additional setup flexibility. Screen adjustment and geometry tools can assist when the projector cannot be positioned perfectly perpendicular to the screen.

Smart entertainment is provided by the supplied BenQ QS02 Android TV dongle, offering access to compatible streaming applications including Netflix. Chromecast built-in and Google Assistant functionality further simplify streaming and content discovery.

The W2720i provides extensive AV connectivity with three external HDMI 2.1 inputs supporting HDCP 2.3, including an HDMI connection with eARC functionality. HDMI eARC enables high-quality multichannel audio, including compatible Dolby Atmos signals, to be passed to an AV receiver or soundbar. A dedicated internal HDMI connection accommodates the Android TV dongle.

Additional connections include USB Type-A for media playback, another USB Type-A power connection, USB Mini-B service connectivity, optical S/PDIF digital audio output, RS-232 control, a 12V trigger and a 3.5mm analog audio output. Dual built-in 5W speakers provide convenient standalone audio when an external home theatre system is not in use.

The 4LED illumination system is rated for approximately 20,000 hours in Normal Mode and up to 30,000 hours in Eco Mode, eliminating conventional projector lamp replacement. BenQ India provides a 3-year onsite projector warranty, while the LED light source is covered for 3 years or 5,000 operating hours, whichever occurs first.
