Denon AVR-S970H 7.2-Channel 8K AV Receiver
The Denon AVR-S970H is a 7.2-channel AV receiver designed for immersive home theatre, high-resolution music playback and advanced 8K video entertainment. With seven discrete power amplifiers delivering up to 90 watts per channel, it provides a flexible foundation for 7.2-channel and 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos home theatre configurations.
The Class AB amplifier section delivers 90W per channel at 8 ohms from 20Hz to 20kHz with 0.08% THD when two channels are driven. It can also deliver 125W per channel at 6 ohms, 1kHz and 0.7% THD. The speaker outputs support 4–16 ohm loads, allowing integration with a wide variety of home theatre loudspeakers.
For immersive cinema sound, the AVR-S970H supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X provides virtualized surround and height effects, while Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio support high-quality lossless movie soundtracks. Dolby Surround and DTS Neural:X upmixing can also expand compatible legacy content across available speakers.
Audyssey MultEQ room calibration uses a supplied measurement microphone to analyze the listening environment and optimize speaker response. Two independent subwoofer outputs provide flexible bass-management options for 7.2-channel installations.
The AVR-S970H supports high-resolution audio playback including FLAC, ALAC and WAV files up to 24-bit/192kHz, along with DSD audio streaming. HEOS Built-in provides network music streaming and multi-room audio, while Apple AirPlay 2, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide convenient wireless playback options.
For modern video sources, the AVR-S970H provides six HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs. Three HDMI inputs and one HDMI output support 8K/60Hz and 4K/120Hz video signals. HDCP 2.3 compatibility and support for HDR10+, HDR10, Dolby Vision, Dynamic HDR and HLG provide compatibility with modern high-dynamic-range displays and sources.
Gaming features include Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and Quick Frame Transport (QFT), helping support smooth and responsive gaming with compatible consoles, PCs and displays.
The receiver also supports two-zone audio functionality, HDMI diagnostics, web control and app control. Its combination of 7-channel amplification, immersive audio processing, Audyssey room calibration, 8K HDMI connectivity and HEOS streaming makes the AVR-S970H well suited to medium-sized home theatres, media rooms, gaming systems and custom AV installations.
