The Bowers & Wilkins M-1 is a compact and versatile 2-way satellite speaker designed for high-quality stereo music and multi-channel home theatre systems. Its compact cabinet, flexible mounting options and refined driver technology make it an excellent solution for rooms where high-quality sound and discreet placement are equally important.

The M-1 features a 4-inch (100 mm) woven glass-fibre cone bass/midrange driver. The woven glass-fibre construction provides a rigid yet lightweight diaphragm, helping the speaker deliver clear and controlled low- and mid-frequency reproduction from its compact enclosure.

High-frequency reproduction is handled by a 1-inch (25 mm) metal-dome tweeter. The tweeter provides detailed and extended high-frequency performance, helping reproduce vocals, instruments, dialogue and atmospheric effects with clarity.

The M-1 uses a 2-way vented-box configuration with a 4 kHz crossover frequency. The dedicated bass/midrange driver and tweeter work together to provide a balanced presentation suitable for both music and movie soundtracks.

The speaker provides a 64 Hz–23 kHz frequency response ±3 dB on the reference axis, with -6 dB extension down to approximately 55 Hz. Its 85 dB sensitivity and 8-ohm nominal impedance allow it to be paired with a wide range of compatible AV receivers and stereo amplifiers.

The M-1 is recommended for amplifiers delivering approximately 20–100 watts into 8 ohms on unclipped programme material. Its minimum impedance is approximately 4 ohms, so an appropriately rated amplifier should be used for best results.

One of the defining features of the M-1 is its flexible positioning system. The supplied swivelling multi-position foot allows the speaker to be positioned on a shelf or table, while the included wall bracket provides convenient wall mounting. The speaker can also be combined with the dedicated M-1 floor stand when the desired listening height requires a freestanding installation.

The M-1 can also be positioned horizontally and used as a centre speaker beneath a television or projection screen. This flexibility makes it possible to build a complete compact home theatre system using multiple M-1 speakers together with a suitable subwoofer.

The speaker is available in Matte Black and Matte White finishes, with matching perforated steel grilles. Its compact industrial design allows it to blend into modern interiors while maintaining a premium appearance.
