Bowers & Wilkins 603 S3 Floor-Standing Speaker
The Bowers & Wilkins 603 S3 is the largest floor-standing speaker in the Performance 600 Series, designed to deliver powerful, detailed and immersive sound in larger rooms and premium home theatre systems. Its three-way architecture combines dedicated bass, midrange and high-frequency drivers to produce a spacious and highly accurate presentation.
The 603 S3 features a 25 mm (1-inch) Titanium Dome™ tweeter incorporating Bowers & Wilkins’ Decoupled Double Dome technology. The tweeter provides smooth, detailed and extended high-frequency reproduction, while the acoustically transparent tweeter grille helps preserve resolution and clarity.
For midrange reproduction, the speaker uses a dedicated 150 mm (6-inch) Continuum™ Cone FST™ midrange driver. The Continuum cone’s composite construction is designed to avoid abrupt transitions in driver behaviour, helping reproduce voices and instruments with a more open, neutral and transparent character.
Low-frequency performance is handled by two 165 mm (6.5-inch) Paper Cone bass drivers. The twin bass drivers provide the 603 S3 with substantial low-frequency authority, allowing it to deliver powerful bass and room-filling scale without relying entirely on a separate subwoofer.
The 603 S3 uses a 3-way vented-box enclosure incorporating Bowers & Wilkins’ Flowport™ technology. The Flowport design helps manage airflow through the cabinet and supports controlled bass performance.
The speaker delivers a 46 Hz–28 kHz frequency response ±3 dB, with a wider -6 dB frequency range extending from approximately 29 Hz to 33 kHz. Its 90 dB sensitivity allows it to achieve substantial output with a suitable amplifier.
The 603 S3 has an 8-ohm nominal impedance with a minimum impedance of approximately 3.0 ohms. Bowers & Wilkins recommends amplification between 30 and 200 watts into 8 ohms for unclipped programme material.
The speaker also benefits from upgraded speaker terminals derived from the 700 Series. Their improved arrangement provides a cleaner signal path between the amplifier and the loudspeaker.
The 603 S3 is designed as a substantial floor-standing speaker, measuring approximately 985 mm high × 190 mm wide × 340 mm deep for the cabinet alone. With the supplied plinth, its height is approximately 1,020 mm and its maximum depth is approximately 402 mm.
With a net weight of approximately 27.5 kg per speaker, the 603 S3 provides a solid platform for its three-way driver arrangement. Available finishes include Black, White and Oak, with Red Cherry offered in selected markets.
