Description
BenQ W5800 4K UHD Laser Home Cinema Projector
The BenQ W5800 is a flagship 4K UHD laser home cinema projector engineered for dedicated theatre rooms and premium custom AV installations. Combining a high-output laser light source, true 4K UHD presentation, complete DCI-P3 cinema colour coverage and BenQ HDR-PRO processing, it is designed for enthusiasts seeking accurate cinematic colour, sophisticated HDR reproduction and extensive professional installation flexibility.
The DLP projection system delivers a 3840 × 2160 4K UHD image with approximately 8.3 million displayed pixels. Its laser-array illumination system produces 2600 ANSI lumens and works with light-source dimming to achieve a specified 3,000,000:1 FOFO contrast ratio, supporting detailed highlight reproduction, deep dark scenes and strong overall image depth.
BenQ CinematicColor technology provides 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 digital cinema colour gamut as well as 100% Rec.709. Individual factory calibration is provided to support accurate out-of-box colour reproduction, while ISFccc Day and Night modes allow professional calibration for different room-lighting conditions.
HDR-PRO processing uses advanced tone mapping together with Global and Local Contrast Enhancement and Dynamic Black technologies. The Local Contrast Enhancer analyses more than 1,000 image regions to optimise gamma and contrast in different portions of the frame, helping retain both bright-highlight and dark-shadow detail.
The W5800 supports HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. HDR10+ uses dynamic metadata to optimise compatible HDR content on a frame-by-frame basis, while Filmmaker Mode is available for viewers who prefer cinematic reproduction that preserves the original creative characteristics of film content.
Installation flexibility is one of the W5800’s strongest features. Its long-throw optical system provides a 1.52–2.45 throw ratio together with a 1.6x motorized optical zoom. Motorized vertical lens shift provides ±50% adjustment, while motorized horizontal lens shift provides ±21%, making the projector suitable for large dedicated cinema rooms and custom ceiling-mounted installations.
For additional geometry correction, 2D keystone adjustment provides up to ±35 degrees vertically and horizontally. The combination of motorized lens shift, motorized zoom and electronic image correction significantly simplifies precise alignment with large cinema screens.
Connectivity includes two HDMI inputs, with BenQ identifying the connections as HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2 support. HDMI eARC provides up to 7.1-channel audio return and can pass compatible Dolby Atmos audio to an external AV receiver, processor or soundbar. The W5800 does not include built-in speakers and is intended to be paired with a dedicated home theatre audio system.
Two USB Type-A connections provide media-reader and power functions. Additional professional connectivity includes optical S/PDIF digital audio output, Ethernet LAN, RS-232 system control and a dedicated VESA 3D Sync output.
The solid-state laser source eliminates conventional projector lamp replacement. BenQ’s current detailed specification rates the light source for approximately 20,000 hours in Normal Mode and up to 25,000 hours in Eco Mode.
With its wide-gamut colour reproduction, HDR-PRO processing, motorized long-throw optical system and comprehensive integration features, the W5800 is particularly well suited to premium dedicated home cinemas using large projection screens, external surround-sound systems and professionally calibrated AV installations.
