The Bowers & Wilkins Formation Series 5.1 Channel Wireless Home Theatre Package combines the Formation Bar, two Formation Flex wireless speakers and the Formation Bass wireless subwoofer to create a high-performance 5.1-channel surround sound system without the need for traditional speaker cables between the individual speakers.
Designed around Bowers & Wilkins’ Formation wireless platform, the system places the Formation Bar at the front of the room for the front left, centre and right channels, while two Formation Flex speakers provide the rear surround channels. The Formation Bass adds dedicated low-frequency reproduction for a complete 5.1-channel home theatre configuration.
The Formation Bar incorporates nine drivers, including three 25 mm double-dome tweeters and six 65 mm woven glass-fibre cone bass/midrange drivers. Its dedicated three-driver centre-channel arrangement is designed to provide clear and focused dialogue while the remaining drivers reproduce the left and right front channels.
Each Formation Flex uses a 25 mm decoupled double-dome high-frequency driver and a 100 mm woven glass-fibre cone bass/midrange driver. The compact wireless speakers can be positioned as rear surround channels and communicate as part of the Formation system.
For low-frequency reproduction, the Formation Bass uses two opposed 165 mm long-throw bass units and 250 W of Class D amplification. Its opposed-driver architecture and Dynamic EQ are designed to provide controlled bass performance while helping reduce unwanted cabinet vibration.
The system supports Wi-Fi networking, Bluetooth and high-resolution streaming features across the Formation platform, with support for technologies and services including Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Roon. Formation Bar also provides Dolby Digital decoding for compatible home theatre sources.
